Frequently Asked Questions

How do I show a face that Frost hid?

Tap it. Everything Frost can hide wears an outline on the photo: tap once to show it and again to hide it. To turn a whole kind on or off, use the switches in the Hide panel.

Frost missed a face. What do I do?

Choose Box in the Hide panel and drag over it. No detector finds everything, and very small faces, faces in poor light, and people seen from behind can be missed, so always look over the photo before you share it. The box is free. Tap a box to remove it.

How do I see the original while I am editing?

Hold the photo, or hold the eye button in its corner. Let go and the hidden areas come back.

How do I keep the location or the camera details?

Open Details and switch off Remove for Location or Device. The date is kept by default and has a switch too. Everything listed under Always removed, such as an owner name or a hidden preview image, always goes. With Frost Pro you can keep an approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, or the date without the time.

Details says the location is not in this photo, but I took it with location on.

Some photos reach Frost with the location already taken out, for example a photo that was sent to you in a message or saved from a website. In that case there is nothing left to remove and the clean copy has no location either.

Does Frost change my original photo?

No. Frost always makes a separate clean copy. On iPhone and iPad, tap the share button to share it, or hold the button for Save to Photos and Copy. On Mac, use Export, Copy, or drag the photo out of the window.

Does the clean copy lose quality?

The clean copy is saved at full resolution in the same format as the original, so HEIC stays HEIC, JPEG stays JPEG, and PNG stays PNG. Extremely large images are limited to 8192 pixels on the long edge.

Why can I not use a light blur on text?

Text and codes can sometimes be read back through a light blur or small pixel blocks. Frost hides them with a solid block by default and never lets blur or pixelate drop below a safe strength.

Frost says a photo could not be shared. Why?

Frost reads every clean copy back before it leaves the app. If it finds something it should have removed, it stops and shows an error instead of sharing the photo. Try again, and if it keeps happening please send us a message below with the type of photo (HEIC, JPEG, or PNG) and where it came from.

What does Frost Pro include?

Hiding faces and removing location and other details are always free, with no daily limit and no watermark. Frost Pro adds hiding text, QR codes, and whole people, Pixelate and any blur strength, the brush, approximate location and date only options, and cleaning many photos at once. It is available as a monthly or yearly subscription or a single lifetime purchase.

How do I restore my purchase or use Pro on my other devices?

Open Settings in Frost and choose Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Frost. On Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings.
