Thank you for using Kiln ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our on-device iOS and macOS application.

Our principle is absolute: Your creative work belongs to you. Kiln runs without an account, sends no telemetry, and transmits zero prompts or images to external servers.

1. Data Collection and Processing

Kiln is built as an offline, local-first application:

• No Account Required: You never create an account, log in, or provide an email to use the application.
• Local On-Device Generation: All text-to-image prompts, seeds, aspect ratios, starting images, and 4x upscalings are processed directly on your device using Apple Silicon hardware. No data ever leaves your computer or device.
• Zero Tracking or Telemetry: We do not embed analytics SDKs, session recorders, crash telemetry, or tracking pixels.

2. Model Downloads and Network Access

Image generation runs entirely offline once models are installed. Kiln only accesses the network when you explicitly trigger a model download:

• On-Demand Model Fetching: When you choose to install an open diffusion model from the in-app library, Kiln downloads the model files directly from public repositories (such as Hugging Face).
• Standard Connection Metadata: During download requests, your IP address is visible to the hosting network as part of standard HTTPS transmission. No personal identifier, prompt history, or image is sent.

3. Local File Storage and Metadata

All downloaded model weights, session galleries, saved presets, and generated PNG files reside exclusively inside Kiln's sandboxed local application container on your Mac. When you export an image, optional creation parameters (prompt, seed, model, step count) are written directly into standard PNG chunks on your local disk. You maintain complete control and can delete any file at any time.

4. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Kiln Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit and App Store infrastructure. We do not receive, process, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or personal payment details.

5. Children’s Privacy

Kiln does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be published directly on this page with an updated effective date.
