What is Poise?
Poise is an AI speech coach that runs entirely on your iPhone. You speak, and it listens, responds, and gives you private feedback on your delivery — fillers, pacing, clarity, vocal presence, and more.
Why do I have to download a model the first time?
Poise does all of its analysis on your device, so nothing you say leaves your phone. To make that possible, the app downloads its AI models once, the first time you use the AI features. Use Wi-Fi (the download can be several hundred MB to a few GB) and keep the app open and in the foreground until it finishes. You can pick a smaller, faster model or a larger, smarter one — and change it later in Settings.
The download is stuck or failed.
Make sure you're on a stable Wi-Fi connection and keep the app in the foreground — backgrounding it pauses the download. Confirm you have enough free storage for the model. If it still won't complete, fully close and reopen the app, then retry from Settings → your model.
How do I practice, and what do the scores mean?
Pick a practice mode (for example Interview, Impromptu, Small Talk, or Public Speaking), start the session, and speak. When you end the session, Poise analyzes your delivery and shows metrics such as filler-word count, pace, clarity, and vocal presence, plus written coaching feedback — all generated on your device from your recording.
My feedback didn't generate, or looks off.
Tap Regenerate Feedback on the results screen — your session and recording are saved, so you can re-run analysis. If you're using the lightest ("Fast") model, consider switching to a larger model in Settings for better analysis, then regenerate.
Does my audio get uploaded anywhere?
No. Recording, transcription, the AI conversation, and analysis all happen on your device. Poise has no account system and contains no analytics or tracking. Your sessions live on your device — delete individual sessions from your history, or delete the app to remove all of its local data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What does Poise Pro include, and how do I manage it?
The free tier includes 3 practice sessions per day. Poise Pro unlocks unlimited practice, full session history, and advanced analysis. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID — manage or cancel anytime via iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the App Store app. If you were charged but Pro isn't active, or you restored a device, use Restore Purchases on the paywall screen.
What do I need to run Poise?
An iPhone running iOS 18.0 or later, enough free storage for the AI model you choose, and microphone access (requested on your first session).
