Version 1.3 and earlier releases
This guide covers Annotate Audio 1.3 on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. Check the App Store for the version currently available. For the Mac app, earlier iPhone and iPad versions, or a previous Annotate Audio account, contact support and tell us which version you use. If you need help accessing or deleting data from a previous account, include the email address associated with that account. See the privacy information for earlier releases.
Record, import, or prepare a model
Choose Record to make a memo or Import to select audio from Files. If the app asks you to set up a transcription model, use Set up a transcription model and follow the steps in Settings. Choose your languages there. Some models need a download before they can run offline.
Find a passage and hear it
Open a saved recording and choose Transcript. Use Find in transcript to search for a word or phrase. Tap a passage linked to audio, or use the play button for a search match, to hear that part of the original recording. Use the share menu to export the transcript as plain text. Pro also offers a CSV with timestamps when available.
Clean up a recording
Open Cleanup on a finished recording. Choose whether to shorten long pauses, balance volume, or reduce background noise. A noise reduction model may need a first download. Free previews cover the first 10 seconds. With Pro you can clean the full recording, compare the original and cleaned audio, and export a cleaned WAV. The app keeps the original.
Find or remove a saved memo
Your recordings keeps your audio and transcripts together. Search for a title, or search inside all saved transcripts with Pro. To remove a memo, open its menu and choose Delete recording. This removes the memo and copies in the app library. Manage any exported copies wherever you saved them.
Free transcription and Pro
Recording and importing are unlimited. Free includes 30 minutes of successful transcription per calendar month. If a memo exceeds your remaining time, its audio still saves. You can transcribe it later when the allowance resets or after upgrading. Pro also offers live text, more compatible models, library search, timed CSV exports, and full cleanup.
Restore or manage Pro
In Annotate Audio Settings, open the membership card and select Restore Purchases. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Apple handles billing. For the app license, see Apple’s Standard Terms of Use. Your saved recordings, transcripts, and cleaned copies remain available if your subscription ends.
